Carbon dioxide is a gas at atmospheric temperature and pressure. It is non-flammable, liquefied, colorless, odorless, tasteless and 1.5 heavier than air. It is easily detectable at very high concentrations as it stimulates breathing (it increases the breathing rhythm). It is corrosive in presence of humidity.

It detaches during fermentation, it is the main product of complete combustion and it is a sub-product in industrial operations like synthetic ammonia production, limestone quarries and carbide furnaces.

Carbon dioxide is normally present in the atmosphere in 0.03% concentrations (300 ppm) and a bit more in urban areas. CO2 has a natural role in green plants’ growth and development (green house effect is the climatic abnormality produced as a result of the increase of CO2 percentage in the atmosphere)

Sulphur hexafluoride is an inorganic compound.
